Overpriced University VS Free Wealthy Affiliate University
After reading Kyle’s blog within Wealthy Affiliate about formal education , I remembered lots of things that happened to us back them when we just graduated from college. It was a happy afternoon of April 2007 (see, I even forgot the date). I was so happy because I finally did it after 4 years of struggling from financial problems, academic pressures, teachers and classmates issues, and what not. The feeling was really awesome and I was somewhat proud of myself for what I have accomplished.
I know there are already lots of college graduates out there so what’s the big deal, right? Well, that’s what exactly what I wanted to talk about. A month ago, many new graduates were produced here in the Philippines. Whenever I open my Facebook account, I see lots of graduates wearing those lovely toga. I’m actually so happy for them because I know how it feels to march on stage and finally be recognized that you are a graduate.
Anyway, I love education. I really do. But there’s something like me and many other college graduates out there feel after graduating. That is, we have nowhere to go. It seems that those very hard academic subjects we patiently laboured can not help us with our life today. We graduated and now we have to find a job to support our family or at the very least, to feed our own stomach. We really like to work but there’s almost no opportunity opened for us. Almost all my classmates were unemployed at that time and I was a loser underemployed guy trying to make a living. There were many times I’m thinking that almost all those things we learned from college are useless now.
Well, the story goes on and on to many college graduates today. Competition is so hard and there are only very few opportunities open for them. So did we just spend a lot of time and money and effort to study just to be like this?
Don’t get me wrong here. As I said I’m not against education. In fact, I still want to gain more education if I’ll have an opportunity. I also experienced a lot before when I was college and those things are priceless. However, formal education today is just becoming like a title and not so much for application. For you to survive here on earth you need to make money. You need to make money not because of money but because you need money to survive (I hope I didn’t confuse you).
In many situations, workers who are applying to companies then need to undergo another training in order for them to work. They need to learn a new skill that matches what the company needs. So after spending how many years to learn academics from college, now you need to learn real skills that make you money. For how much? Well, for just enough amount to let you survive here on earth.
Thanks to the internet since it opened lots of opportunities these days. But again, you need to learn skills on how to make money in the internet. So how much will you have to spend to gain those skills? Thousand dollars? Hundreds? Well, thanks to Wealthy Affiliate University, you don’t have to spend anything this time (You can read my last post for the details of the Free 10 day test drive). I spent $47 during my first month inside but good for you since you can enter inside for free. I tell you what, you can learn lots of skills inside that can give you better opportunities to make money and live better. See you there!
